Using "Will" & "Won't"

What is the Future Simple?

We use the Future Simple (will/won't) to talk about the future. It's very common! We use it for:

1. Predictions

To say what we think or believe will happen in the future.

e.g., "I think it will rain tomorrow."

2. Spontaneous Decisions

For decisions made at the moment of speaking.

e.g., "The phone is ringing. I'll get it!"

3. Promises, Offers, & Requests

To promise something, offer help, or ask someone to do something.

e.g., "I will help you. (Promise)"

e.g., "Will you open the door? (Request)"

How to Form It

Positive (+)

Subject + will + Verb (base)

"She will go." (She'll go)

Negative (-)

Subject + will not (won't) + Verb (base)

"They won't come."

Question (?)

Will + Subject + Verb (base)?

"Will you call me?"

Future tim expressions

Tomorrow

Next week - Next month - Next Monday, Tuesday... Sunday - Next year

After an hour - After a week, etc
